To look at life like a child really impacts me. It means to approach every new thing with wonder and hope. Most young children do not pass judgments they just go with it. Like when we were all on the playground in Pre-K we would just go up to people ask them if they would be our friends and poof! we had friends. It was so easy and simple. No one worried about being judged or if people thought they were strange. Kids approach every new day with excitement and vigor. My little brother, William, does the same thing each week he keeps a meticulous schedule but he still excited and hyper for everything brought forth to him. Even if he has done it many times before. How much happier we would be if we lived life like a child. We would always see the good in people and always understand the awe in life.

ReplyDeleteIt seems to be easy to take many things for granted. We all go to this beautiful school and most of us live in beautiful homes. We are given more than we give and have access to a lot of things. Needless to say, we are very blessed. This being said, I am one of most who take things for granted. Episcopal is a very nice institution and I am blessed to live in the neighborhood I do, and go to this private school. I ask for things like a computer for graduation while another typical high school student would ask for $30. I am extremely lucky to live the way I live. Because I am given so much, I often take those things for granted. I definitely take school for granted. It is very expensive and I tend to blow it off from time to time and not realize how much my parents are paying for me to be here. I have fantastic friends and teachers who really care about my success. I tend to take all of these people for granted as well. These people around me do so much for me each and every day and I tend not to be as thankful.
I need to take steps to eliminate how much I take things for granted. I need to come to a deeper realization of how blessed I really am. I will try and notice the things people do for me and thank them as much as possible. I only have one month left at this school, and I will try my best to take as much advantage of this time as possible.
There are lots of things in life that not only me, but lots of other people take for granted. For example, clean water; clean water is something that most people in 3rd world countries don't have, yet Americans have their sprinklers going for their lawns, water running while brushing teeth, and using clean water to wash their cars. In my life, I know that there are so many things that I take for granted and shouldn't. I think one of the biggest things that people take for granted are their five senses. Most people are born able to see, able to smell, touch, taste, and hear. No one really thinks about what it is like to live without one of these senses. If you can't taste, you will never be able to enjoy food; if you can't smell, you will never be able to enjoy flowers and nature; if you can't feel, you will never know what its like to be hugged; if you can't hear, you will never know what a person sounds like; and if you can't see, you will never know what something/one looks like. Until about four years ago, I to used to take my five senses for granted. I was hit in the eye with a golf ball and lost 50% of my sight in my left eye. I can't see detail, I can't read, and when I close my right eye, I can't see peoples faces. I was scared I wasn't going to be able to drive, play sports again, or even be able to read properly. This was when I realized how lucky I really was. I could still see, and even know I am able to do everything that someone with normal eye sight can do. BUt this got me thinking about all the people who have lost or never had sight in their eyes. How limited their lives are. Same goes for people who have lost other senses from their lives. I realized How lucky I truly am to be able to wake up every morning and see, smell, taste, touch, and hear the world. It is a true gift that everyone takes for granted. We should all take time to think about how fortunate we really are.

Children are born as blanks slates with curious minds. They seek to understand the world and they do it from a virgin state of mind, uninfluenced by the corruptions of the world.Through their eyes everything is exciting and bright and wondrous because they have had nothing prior to compare it to. As they develop and become older, everything seems to lose its loss and they no longer see things in they same way as before. I believe that you do not have to be a child to see the world from their perspective, but that as adults we should try to revert back to that state of mind every now and again. Everything has a natural beauty but whether a person is able to see it makes the difference. A change of scenery is all that is required sometimes but I think that the best thing a person can do to achieve this goal is to change their state of mind. Look at new things as exciting and unknown. Find the good in the bad. And savor life like a fancy steak dressed with liquid gold and angel tears.

ReplyDeleteI believe we should all take a break from our busy lives to look at life more like a child. Children find seemingly ordinary things beautiful and interesting that adults may find irritating or worthless. This is because as we get older we sometimes get caught up in miniscule things, and we forget to appreciate the beauty of life and what it has to offer. We forget that life is an adventure not a process. Like children, let your guard down once in a while, laugh more, and play more. It’s okay to be silly and goofy! Also, we must all strive to not be so judgmental towards each other. It is important to embrace each others flaws and find beauty in the people or things we encounter in life.

As an American citizen it is mind-blowing the amount of daily things in my life that I take for granted. Things like waking up everyday in a bed and running-water, or the fact that I have transportation waiting for me right outside my front door. It is hard for me to believe that there are people out there who are less fortunate because I have never experienced what they experience. This is why it is so astonishing to watch videos such as "Invisible Children". I find it hard to believe that there are actually children out there in the world who do not go to school everyday and get an education in an attempt to do something with their life. However, seeing as I am a much more fortunate person in society, and I have those little things that are taken for granted it is my responsibility to use these gifts and make something of myself and the world around me. I plan to work very hard throughout life, and leave no room for regret as I live each day to the fullest and do all I can to help not only myself, but those around me as well.

All the things I ever took for granted are either gone now, or going to go soon. Opportunities that slap me in the face I have ignored like a dying kitten in the streets. Money that had my name on it I let someone else take away because I was too scared to reach out for it and claim it. Deals I could have made went away because I took to long to make up my mine and take it by the neck. I have been given more than enough opportunities to better myself and potentially my family as a whole, but my lack of courage held me back in achieving them. I take my schoolwork for granted at times despite how hard I worked to get where I am today. Laziness is apart of all us, it is just the controlling it part that tends to be difficult for me at least. I take all of the good people I know and blow them off because I am in my own world trying to make something else of what I am experiencing. Meanwhile people out there would kill to live the kind of life I live today. Despite of all the work, headaches, money, and lies there is a part of me that does not realize exactly how I am affecting the world around me as well as my inner self. We always try to better ourselves and open our eyes to the world around us, but as we keep facing distractions that affect us personally, we will not be able to acknowledge and appreciate what is around all of us. I will personally make an effort, but I make no promises.
